Description
Beryllium Copper Plate for Mold, Aerospace & Industrial Applications — High Strength with Superior Thermal Performance
Beryllium copper plate is one of the finest copper alloys for tough industrial applications. These plates have a tensile strength of up to 1,400 MPa and a thermal conductivity of up to 245 W/m·K. It is manufactured by Dongguan Jiaye Dingsheng Precision Casting & Forging Co., Ltd., a producer with over 25 years of expertise in copper alloys since 1997. All plates are supplied with a full EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificate and manufactured to ISO 9001 standards. It is available in grades C17200, C17500 and C17510, with widths up to 1,000 mm and thicknesses from 3.0-150 mm.
What Is Beryllium Copper Plate?
Beryllium copper is a precipitation hardened alloy mostly of copper with 0.4% - 2.0% beryllium content. It overcomes a typical engineering challenge when projects need the structural strength of high-alloy steel and steady thermal and electrical conductivity, which cannot be met by regular copper or steel materials alone.
After ageing heat treatment, C17200 obtains 36-42 HRC hardness, while maintaining thermal conductivity of 105-130 W/m.k, 4 to 8 times that of tool steel. The balanced dual property makes the alloy ideal for wide range of precision and high duty industrial operations.
Grade Overview & Chemical Composition
Three standard grades are available, each targeting a different performance balance.
| Grade | Beryllium (Be%) | Other Elements | Hardness (Aged) | Tensile Strength | Thermal Conductivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| C17200 | 1.80 – 2.00% | Co+Ni min 0.20%, Cu Bal | 36 – 42 HRC | 1,170 – 1,400 MPa | 105 – 130 W/m·K |
| C17500 | 0.40 – 0.70% | Co 2.40–2.70%, Cu Bal | 95 – 102 HRB | 680 – 850 MPa | 200 – 245 W/m·K |
| C17510 | 0.20 – 0.60% | Ni 1.40–2.20%, Cu Bal | 90 – 100 HRB | 620 – 790 MPa | 220 – 260 W/m·K |
C17200 is your best choice when strength and wear resistance are the priority. C17500 and C17510 are better suited when thermal or electrical conductivity matters more.

Key Performance Advantages
If the mould releases heat well, it may cool more quickly. Compared to tool steel, thermal conductivity is much greater, which might shorten the injection mould cooling time by 20% to 40% and increase production efficiency. To reduce sink marks and distortions, steer clear of hot areas with balanced heat distribution in plastic components.
Stable yield strength and hardness maintain performance in sliding and impact applications by preventing deformation under prolonged clamping pressure.
It is non-sparking and non-magnetic therefore it is perfect for explosive industrial environments and precise detecting systems where magnetic interference is not wanted.
permits CNC milling , EDM wire cutting and high precision polishing . Plates are rough machined then annealed and aged to compensate for some loss of dimensions.
Application Scenarios
Plastic Injection Moulding: Mould cores, cavities, sliding blocks, cooling inserts. Fast heat dissipation. Long term wear. Durable.
Aerospace & Defence: Landing gear parts, bushings, structural wear plates. Resist load and vibration.
Oil & Gas Exploration MWD down-hole components, non-magnetic casing. High temperature and high pressure situations.
Resistance Welding: Support plates, electrode holders. Resist repeated thermal and mechanical cycling.
Industrial Safety Equipment:Tool blanks, non-sparking wear plates. Flammable and explosive petrochemical sites

Quality Control Process
All Beryllium Copper Plate products are subjected to three levels of inspection: in-process monitoring and raw material verification, final delivery testing. OES chemical study indicates beryllium concentration is within grade criteria. The heat treatment is verified by Rockwell and Vickers hardness tests. Load-bearing capacity is validated by tensile testing to ASTM E8. Microstructure is kept uniform by internal grain inspection. Ultrasonic testing rules out internal inclusions and holes. All batches are delivered with full EN 10204 3.1 test certificates and batch traceability.

Handling & Safety Notes
Solid beryllium copper plates may be safely processed using standard techniques. Only the dust and fumes produced during welding, grinding, and machining are linked to health risks. To adhere to occupational safety regulations, this process requires HEPA filtering, wet machining, and specific respiratory protection.
Plates should be kept in low-humidity environments. Mechanical properties and internal structure are unaffected by little surface oxidation.
Frequently Asked Questions
