Description

C17200 Beryllium Copper Strip ASTM B194 – High-Strength Spring Material for Precision Electronic Components

C17200 Beryllium Copper Strip ASTM B194 is a precipitation-hardening copper alloy strip also known as Alloy 25 or CuBe2, with fixed beryllium content of 1.80–2.00%. Manufactured by Dongguan Jiaye Dingsheng Precision Casting & Forging Co., Ltd., the product benefits from the factory’s 25+ years of copper alloy manufacturing experience starting from 1997. It fully conforms to ASTM B194, ASTM B248, SAE J463 and ISO 5182 industry standards. The material features tensile strength up to 1320 MPa, 22–25% IACS electrical conductivity and 131 GPa elastic modulus. Available sizes include thickness from 0.05mm to 3.0mm and width up to 300mm, supplied in precision slit coils or cut-to-length strip forms.

What Is C17200 Beryllium Copper Strip ASTM B194?

Flat-rolled copper alloy goods made in accordance with ASTM B194 criteria, which standardize the chemical makeup, mechanical characteristics, and dimensional tolerances of beryllium copper strips, sheets, and plates, are referred to as C17200 Beryllium Copper Strip ASTM B194. The alloy is composed of 1.80–2.00% beryllium, at least 0.20% cobalt and nickel, and copper. During precipitation hardening, cobalt and nickel function as grain refiners, stabilizing mechanical characteristics across the strip section.

It satisfies actual engineering requirements for non-magnetic materials by combining steel-grade strength, steady electrical conductivity, and dependable fatigue resistance for electronic structural components. It is a commonly used beryllium copper alloy in the industry.

Available Temper Conditions Explained

TB00 annealed temper delivers good flexibility, suitable for complex stamping and deep drawing, with aging treatment applicable after forming. TD01–TD04 cold-rolled tempers come with improved strength and lower ductility, ideal for simple forming processes. TF00 peak aged temper reaches full mechanical properties, for direct installation without secondary processing. Most precision spring and relay components adopt TB00 forming first, then aging at 315°C for 2–3 hours to stabilize overall performance.

Key Product Advantages

With 131 GPa elastic modulus and 950–1150 MPa yield strength, the strip avoids permanent deformation during long-term cyclic operation. Because of its non-magnetic and spark-resistant qualities, it may be used in specialized industrial and precision electronic settings. The substance prolongs the service life of automotive and marine electronic components by withstanding oxidation and salt fog damage. Precision micro-stamping is supported by annealed strips, which exhibit little dimensional departure upon low-temperature aging. For high-current electronic components, thermal conductivity of 105 W/m·K speeds up heat dissipation.

Application Scenarios

C17200 Beryllium Copper Strip ASTM B194 covers a wide range of industrial applications. It is commonly used for precision electronic spring contacts, relay blades and fuse clips that require stable conductivity and fatigue resistance. In aerospace and defense fields, it serves avionic connectors and shielding gaskets for extreme temperature and vibration environments. It also applies to automotive EV battery terminals, engine compartment connectors, as well as miniature contact components for 5G communication and microelectronic equipment.

Application Fields

Quality Control and Inspection

Every product is subjected to a three-phase full-process inspection, which includes testing of the final product, in-process manufacturing monitoring, and raw material verification. Grain size inspection, dimensional calibration, hardness and tensile testing, and OES composition analysis are used to test every batch. To achieve total material traceability from raw materials to completed items, complete EN 10204 3.1 MTC reports are attached to every shipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Can the strip be formed after peak aging treatment?
A1: Only simple bending is allowed. Complex forming after TF00 aging will lead to cracking. It is recommended to complete stamping and forming under TB00 condition before aging treatment.

Q2: What is the steady operating temperature over the long term?
A2: The material performs steadily between 150°C and 200°C. Spring component performance will be hindered by an excessively high ambient temperature.

Q3: Is it safe to use solid beryllium copper strip in a workshop?
A3: There are no safety risks associated with finished solid strips. Only during grinding, welding, and other operations that generate dust or fumes are protective gear and ventilation necessary.

Q4: What distinguishes ASTM B194 from ASTM B197?
A4: While ASTM B197 is the standard for alloy wire goods, ASTM B194 is applicable to flat strip and sheet products used for stamping.

Q5: Which certifications are available for every order?
A5: RoHS and REACH compliance papers, together with EN 10204 3.1 MTC test results, are included with every shipment.
