Description
C61400 Aluminum Bronze Plate for Chemical Processing & Marine Engineering — High Ductility with Superior Corrosion Resistance
Aluminium Bronze D, or C61400 Aluminum Bronze Plate, is a wrought copper alloy to ASTM B169/B169M standards. With 1.5 - 3.5% iron and 6 - 8% aluminium, the iron acts as a grain refiner to preserve internal structure. The alloy has a 240 MPa yield strength, 550 MPa tensile strength and 35–40 % elongation. Its combined ductility, wear protection and corrosion stability with density 7.89 g/cm³ and heat conductivity 59 W/m·K make it appropriate for working settings in which conventional brass and bronze cannot operate stably.

What Is C61400 Aluminum Bronze Plate
This material is a wrought aluminium bronze, fabricated by hot rolling and cold working, as opposed to cast alloys such as C95400. It exhibits a consistent mechanical behaviour on the full plate and a uniform grain structure.
The 6–8% aluminium content without any extra coating produces a stable oxide layer on the surface protecting against brackish water, non-oxidizing acids and chlorides. The 1.5-3.5% iron element optimises the grain structure to improve the fatigue strength and uniform hardness and resistance to cavitation erosion of the C61400 Aluminum Bronze Plate.

Key Material Advantages
This bronze plate is good for on-site fabrication and has good welding adaptability. It is suitable for GMAW and GTAW welding using ERCuAl-A1 filler metals. Its non-sparking characteristics make it safe to manufacture and use in dangerous and combustible oil, gas and chemical plant atmospheres.
The tiny grain structure minimises cavitation erosion caused by high-speed saltwater flow, while the surface oxide layer reduces marine biofouling. High elongation means that it can be bent, shaped and machined into sophisticated pieces of equipment without breaking.
Application Scenarios
C61400 Aluminum Bronze Plate is used in chemical processing and is suitable for use in pressure vessel walls, heat exchangers tube sheets and condenser plates as it resists hot brine and acidic media as well as brass dezincification failure. As a worn strip, guiding piece of machine tools and stamping dies to avoid friction damage at high pressure. It is used in marine applications to prevent the hull, pump parts and accessories of seawater pipelines against corrosion in the course of time.
Quality Control Standards
Every item undergoes a four-phase evaluation procedure. OES spectroscopy is used to verify that the alloy composition adheres to ASTM standards. Mechanical evaluation is conducted to assess tensile strength and hardness for structural purposes. Ultrasonic examination under ASTM E114 uncovers internal porosity and lamination defects. Laser measurement analysis for flatness and thickness specifications. We provide comprehensive traceability with EN 10204 3.1 MTC reports for every shipment.

FAQ
Q1: Is pre-treatment required for welding?
A: No pre-treatment is needed for regular GMAW and GTAW welding with matched filler metal. Stress relief annealing is recommended for complex structural parts.
Q2: What's the difference between C61400 and C95400?
A: C61400 is wrought bronze with higher ductility and better weldability. C95400 is cast bronze, fit for special-shaped casting instead of rolled plate processing.
Q3: What is the maximum working temperature?
A: It maintains consistent performance up to 260°C. Verification by professionals is necessary for extended service beyond this temperature.
Q4: Can it resist stress corrosion cracking?
A: Indeed, it prevents dezincification and stress fractures in chloride and acidic conditions, exhibiting more stability than conventional brass and bronze.
Q5: Is this material non-magnetic?
A: Yes, with permeability below 1.2, it fits precision electronic, medical and defense equipment scenarios.
Q6: What test documents can be provided?
A: Complete EN 10204 3.1 MTC reports covering composition, mechanical performance and dimensional inspection data are available.
