Description

C18200 Chromium Copper Rod RWMA Class 2 — High-Conductivity Resistance Welding Alloy for Demanding Industrial Use

C18200 Chromium Copper Rod RWMA Class 2 is a heat-treatable copper-chromium alloy designed for resistance welding scenarios. With 0.6%–1.2% chromium content, the material reaches 75–83 HRB hardness and over 450 MPa tensile strength after solution and aging treatment, while retaining ≥80% IACS conductivity and 320 W/m·K thermal conductivity. Founded in 1997, Dongguan Jiaye Dingsheng supplies 5–200mm diameter rods. All batches pass OES composition testing and can be delivered with complete MTC certification documents.

What Is C18200 Chromium Copper?

C18200 Chromium Copper Rod RWMA Class 2 takes copper as the base material with fixed chromium additives. As a standard RWMA Class 2 alloy, it fits cold-rolled and galvanized steel resistance welding electrode production. Different from pure copper that softens easily under heat, its composite microstructure with chromium precipitates maintains stable hardness at temperatures up to 500°C, solving thermal fatigue and electrode deformation issues in continuous welding work.

Key Performance Advantages

Stable conductivity and thermal performance Typical conductivity and thermal conductivity decrease energy loss and speed up heat dissipation in repeated welding cycles.

Anti-deformation performance. Stable hardness may prevent the electrode from mushrooming under long-term compression, therefore decreasing the frequency of equipment maintenance.

High temperature stability: No structural change due to traditional thermal softening up to 500°C with full mechanical performance.

Processing performance is flexible The condition of annealing is favourable for CNC machining of complicated shape, the ageing hardening is completed after processing.

Applications

This alloy is generally used for spot welding tips, seam welding wheels and electrode holders for welding of steel plates. It provides thermal surge deformation protection for high voltage switchgear and circuit breaker contacts. In the industry of mould manufacturing, it is utilised for injection mould core pins and inserts to speed up the cooling of the mould and to reduce production cycles.

Quality Control Process

All rods adopt five-stage inspection before delivery, including OES component verification, ASTM E18 hardness testing, eddy current conductivity detection, ultrasonic internal flaw inspection and dimensional calibration. Unqualified products will be reprocessed, and qualified batches are delivered with full traceable test documents.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What is the highest temperature of work?
A1:
The operating temperature can be steady up to 500℃. Too much warmth will cause the material to age and soften and this cannot be reversed.

Q2. What is the difference between C18200 and C18150?
A2:
C18150 has zirconium to improve its high temperature endurance, whereas C18200 is cheaper and used for normal steel welding.

Q3: What tooling is suitable for processing?
A3: Its machinability is 20% of free-cutting brass. Carbide tools are recommended for stable processing accuracy.

Q4: Is post-machining heat treatment required?
A4: No, products are fully aged before delivery and can be used directly after simple finishing.

Q5: What certification documents can be provided?
A5: EN 10204 3.1 MTC reports are available, complying with ISO 9001, RoHS and REACH standards.
