Description

C18000 Nickel Chromium Silicon Copper Rod — Beryllium-Free High-Strength Solution for Demanding Industrial Applications

C18000 Nickel Chromium Silicon Copper Rod is a precipitation-hardened copper alloy compliant with ASTM B441 and SAE J461 standards. Produced by Dongguan Jiaye Dingsheng since 1997, this beryllium-free alloy contains specific proportions of nickel, silicon and chromium. It reaches 550–760 MPa tensile strength and 90–100 HRB hardness, with 45–60% IACS conductivity and 190 W/m·K thermal conductivity. It stays stable at up to 475°C, balancing mechanical strength and conductive performance. All products pass ISO 9001 certification and come with complete MTC test documents.

What Is C18000 Copper Alloy?

Another name for C18000 Nickel Chromium Silicon Copper Rod alloy is "Coronze". It belongs to the copper-nickel-silicon-chromium family and is processed by heat treatment of solution annealing and ageing.

Nickel silicides and chromium phases precipitate on ageing in the copper matrix. This results in a fine-grain structure that imparts the distinctive hardness, strength and conductivity to the alloy.

Unlike typical copper alloys, C18000 does not lose its structure despite repeated thermal cycling, making it appropriate for applications where heat, pressure and electrical load are all present.

Why Choose C18000 Over Other Copper Alloys?

Environmentally Compliance: The beryllium-free formulation is RoHS and REACH compliant, easing plant operation and waste disposal requirements.

Stable conductivity performance: Stable conductivity in high hardness state, suitable for extended time current carrying operating situations.

High thermal stability: The material does not soften at 475°C , and has more stable performance than typical copper alloys in high-cycle thermal environment.

Superior wear resistance: Chromium element optimises the internal structure to decrease oxidation and abrasion during prolonged operation.

Industrial Applications

It is the material of choice for resistance welding electrodes and wheels for stainless steel and galvanised sheet processing, where it maintains stable form and conductivity in the high-cycle welding. It is used in injection mould core pins and inserts for faster cooling and abrasive resin wear resistance. It may also be used for heavy-duty switchgear connections, motor short circuit rings, to withstand high current and mechanical strain without deformation.

Quality Control Process

Each batch goes through a complete process inspection comprising ICP-OES component calibration, eddy current internal fault identification, conductivity verification, hardness and grain size analysis and dimensional tolerance inspection.

Each shipment is accompanied with comprehensive MTC documentation for complete traceability of the manufacturing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What are the advantages compared with C17510 beryllium copper?
A1: It delivers matching conductivity and high-temperature strength, with no beryllium composition, making it easier for processing and environmental compliance.

Q2: What is the maximum safe working temperature?
A2: It keeps stable performance below 475°C; excessive temperature will cause material aging and performance decline.

Q3: What is the material machinability?
A3: Machinability is 20–30% of free-cutting brass, applicable for carbide tool processing with matched cooling fluid.

Q4: Is secondary heat treatment required after machining?
A4: Standard finished rods can be used directly; stress relief treatment is optional for large-scale processing.

Q5: Does the material have corrosion resistance?
A5: It adapts to most industrial environments and resists atmospheric corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.

Q6: Are customized specifications supported?
A6: Custom sizes and targeted performance adjustment are available with professional technical support.
