Description

C18200 Chromium Copper Rod for Resistance Welding & High-Conductivity Applications — RWMA Class 2 Solution

C18200 Chromium Copper Rod is a copper alloy with 0.6% - 1.2% chromium which is precipitation hardened with an electrical conductivity of >=80% IACS and tensile strength of 380-520 MPa. Normal ETP copper will soften at around 200° C. This alloy is heat treated (aged, TF00/TH04) and will retain structural integrity up to 500° C. Dongguan Jiaye Dingsheng Precision Casting & Forging Co., Ltd. has been engaged in the manufacturing of chromium copper since 1997, providing a one-stop service that includes vacuum melting, precision rolling and heat treatment. All bar is supplied complete with comprehensive Mill Test Certificate (MTC) certifying chemical composition, hardness and conductivity data.

What Is C18200 Chromium Copper?

C18200 Chromium Copper Rod is a RWMA Class 2 alloy of copper. The main alloying element is chromium (0.6%-1.2%) which produces fine distributed precipitates during ageing, pinning grain boundaries and resisting recrystallization.

This is the way it is differentiated from pure copper. Chromium precipitates keep “mushrooming” at high pressure welding contact and retain the electrode tip shape for thousands of welding cycles.

The alloy fulfils ASTM B196, SAE J461 and RWMA Class 2 standards and is a globally recognised standard for resistance welding and switchgear applications.

Key Performance Advantages

temperature stability: Long-term temperature cycling without softening and structural deformation, suitable for continuous welding production.

Stable conduction: High electrical and thermal conductivity decreases the heat build-up in the equipment and increases the life span of the components.

Structural stability: Precipitation hardened construction can endure high working pressure and enable precise CNC machining for smooth surface finish.

Application Scenarios

This material is widely made into resistance welding electrodes for automotive assembly lines to stabilize welding effect and reduce equipment maintenance. It applies to high-voltage switch contacts and terminal blocks to bear high-current load without overheating or deformation. It can be processed into casting mold cooling inserts for metallurgical industries, and also used for aerospace and electronic precision conductive structural parts.

Application Fields

Manufacturing Process & Quality Control

We adopt independent vacuum melting, precision rolling and standardized heat treatment to ensure uniform material structure and stable hardness. Finished products undergo OES component detection, hardness calibration and dimensional inspection. Each shipment is attached with complete test documents to realize full-process quality traceability.

Customization & Supply Flexibility

We support custom size cutting and TF00/TH04 temper adjustment, as well as CNC finishing services. In-stock products ship in 3–5 days, with 24-hour quotation response. We provide complete export logistics and customs document support for overseas clients.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What is the maximum working temperature of C18200?
A1: It can work stably below 500°C. Excess temperature will cause performance attenuation of the material.

Q2: What's the difference between C18200 and C18150?
A2: C18200 has no zirconium composition and fits conventional steel welding; C18150 suits higher-temperature galvanized steel welding scenarios.

Q3: What machining tools are recommended?
A3: Carbide tools and professional lubricants are recommended to adapt to the material's toughness characteristics.

Q4: Is secondary heat treatment required after purchase?
A4: The standard TF00 aged material can be used directly. Heat treatment is required again after hot forging processing.

Q5: Can the material be welded and brazed?
A5: Silver brazing is applicable. Fusion welding will affect the hardness and conductivity of the welding area.

Q6: What qualification documents can be provided?
A6: Complete MTC test reports, ISO 9001, RoHS and REACH compliance documents are available.
