Description
Cuco2be Rod (C17500 Cobalt Beryllium Copper) — High Conductivity Alloy Rod for Welding & Electrical Applications
Cuco2be Rod is a Cobalt Beryllium Copper ( UNS C17500) Precipitation Hardened Copper Alloy used for applications requiring good electrical conductivity and moderate mechanical strength. It is thermally fatigue resistant, and is resistant to electrical deterioration under high stress, with an electrical conductivity of 45-60% IACS and a tensile strength of 680-960 MPa. This alloy is manufactured to meet the requirements of ASTM B441 and RWMA Class 3. It is the material of choice when C18150 is not hard enough at extreme temperatures or when C17200 does not have the electrical conductivity to support heavy duty welding or switchgear systems.

What is Cuco2be Rod?
Cuco2be Rod is an alloying element, cobalt is the major element (normally Co: 2.4-2.7%, Be: 0.4-0.7%, balance Cu) for stabilisation of the beryllium matrix in precipitation hardening.
The structure gives the alloy a high recrystallization temperature such that it retains its mechanical integrity while other copper alloys begin to degrade during heat cycling.
It is different from the usual beryllium copper grades like C17200. C17200 gives up to 1400 MPa tensile strength, but only ~20% IACS conductivity. C17500 Cobalt Beryllium Copper sacrifices part of the peak strength for much greater electrical throughput, up to 60% IACS. This makes it the perfect option for high current applications.

Material Advantages
Stable electrothermal performance. Good conductivity and heat dissipation can effectively decrease the buildup of resistance heat, which may realise the continuous operation of welding electrodes and power switchgear.
High temperature structural stability — Retains form throughout extended heat and pressure and retains electrode shape after several welding cycles.
Arc and wear resistance The cobalt-stabilised alloy structure minimises arc erosion and maximises the service life of electrical contact and relay components.
Precision Dimensional Stability: Supplied pre-aged, machining out of dimensional variance, precision mould fitting and structural component fabrication.
Quality Control Process
All the batches are subject to rigorous inspection in five phases, including: OES component verification; entire section conductivity testing; hardness detection; ultrasonic internal defect inspection; dimensional calibration.
All shipments come with an EN 10204 3.1 MTC certificate that provides full traceability from raw materials to finished products.

Why Choose Dongguan Jiaye Dingsheng?
Dongguan Jiaye Dingsheng Precision Casting & Forging Co. Ltd. was established in 1997, with more than 25 years experience in copper alloy making. We produce everything from vacuum melting to final inspection in our own facilities, so we can control the chemical composition, grain structure and mechanical properties exactly.
The manufacturing line consists of vacuum melting furnaces, precision rolling mills, heat treatment lines and CNC machining centres. This vertical technique guaranties consistent alloy quality from batch to batch, not the unpredictability of outsourced processing.
The quality system is certified according to ISO 9001. Products are RoHS, REACH compliant. Standard stock items ship in 3-5 days and quotations come back in 24 hours. Custom diameters and lengths available.

Packaging & Storage
Rods are delivered in bundles, encased in moisture-proof packing. Each bundle is identified with grade, heat number, dimensions and MTC reference for direct traceability on your factory floor.

FAQ
Q1: What is the difference between C17500 and C17200?
A1: C17200 has stronger strength with lower conductivity while C17500 has higher current-carrying capability with intermediate strength for electrical applications.
Q2: Can TH04 tempered rods be machined?
A2: Yes, carbide tools and cooling equipment are required for machining, and secondary heat treatment is not needed.
Q3: Is solid C17500 alloy safe to handle?
A3: Solid rods cause no hazards. Dust extraction protection is required during cutting and grinding processing.
Q4: What is the delivery cycle for custom sizes?
A4: Standard sizes are in stock for 3–5 day shipment, and non-standard custom sizes take 4–8 weeks.
Q5: What test documents can be provided?
A5: Complete EN 10204 3.1 MTC reports including composition, hardness and conductivity data are available.
