Description

Beryllium Copper Plate 5mm | C17200 High-Strength Plate for Industrial Precision Components

Beryllium Copper Plate 5mm (UNS C17200 / Alloy 25) is manufactured by Dongguan Jiaye Dingsheng. With production experience dating back to 1997, we produce the plate in line with ASTM B194 and ISO 5182 standards. Adopting precipitation hardening technology, the product reaches 1110–1320 MPa tensile strength and 36–42 HRC hardness, with 105 W/m·K thermal conductivity. Available in aged and cold-rolled tempers, all batches are delivered with EN 10204 3.1 MTC test certificates for full performance data verification.

What Is Beryllium Copper Plate 5mm?

Unlike standard copper alloys, Beryllium Copper Plate 5mm is a precipitation-hardened material that bridges the gap between high-strength structural steel and high-conductivity copper.

The alloy comprises 1.80–2.00% beryllium with a minimum of 0.20% cobalt and nickel addition. This exact chemistry, carried out under vacuum melt conditions, offers the 5mm plate its unique mix of mechanical strength and thermal efficiency.

At 5.0mm thick, the plate achieves the optimal compromise between the formability of sheet metal and the sturdiness of heavy plate. It resists deformation under cyclic load, operates reliably in corrosive situations and minimises sparking dangers in explosive atmospheres – qualities that normal phosphor bronze or structural steel cannot simultaneously equal.

Key Product Advantages

Accurate size control: Strict ±0.15mm thickness tolerance facilitates CNC, EDM and stamping processes without secondary grinding.

Good mechanical performance: High tensile and yield strength is suitable for large load carrying applications beyond those of standard bronze materials.

Long fatigue life: Resists breaking during high-frequency cycle operation for spring parts and flexible elements.

Wear and friction resistance: Stable hardness prevents abrasion and galling under long-term loading and is ideal for mould accessories.

Safe and steady performance: Non-sparking and non-magnetic, suitable for use in explosion-proof and precision equipment settings.

Flexible processing: Can be moulded in an annealed condition, low temperature ageing to regain full performance after moulding.

Application Scenarios

Plastic Injection Moulding Industry

The 5 mm plate is utilised as core and cavity inserts in injection moulds. The 105 W/m·K thermal conductivity quickly dissipates heat from hot regions, lowering cycle times and minimising part warpage.

Aerospace & Defence

This plate is specified by engineers for high duty structural connections and bushings that undergo severe temperature fluctuations and vibration. Remains dimensionally stable throughout.

Oil, Gas, Hazardous Environments

Because of its non-sparking quality, it is the material of choice for housings of downhole drilling instruments and safety gear. Better resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking than other high strength stainless steels in subsea use.

Precision Electronics

Used in high duty spring contacts, diaphragms and shims when both electrical conductivity (22-25% IACS) and structural stiffness are needed.

Application Fields

Quality Control Process

We implement three-stage inspection: raw material spectral analysis confirms alloy composition; real-time monitoring of melting and rolling ensures uniform grain structure; finished products undergo hardness, tensile, conductivity, dimensional and ultrasonic flaw detection. All shipment data is recorded in official test reports to achieve full batch traceability.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What is the difference between Beryllium Copper Plate 5mm and phosphor bronze for spring use?
A1: Beryllium copper has far greater fatigue strength (310–360 MPa against ~150 MPa for phosphor bronze) and may be heat-treated to 36–42 HRC. It offers extended service life and increased load capacity for high-cycle industrial springs.

Q2: Is the 5mm thickness OK for EDM?
A2: Yes. The plate is extremely suitable for electrical discharge machining. However, the EDM flushing settings need to be adjusted due to the high heat conductivity of the alloy (105 W/m·K).

Q3: Is there any health danger in touching this plate?
A3: In solid plate form it is very safe to handle. OSHA requires that machining activities that produce fine dust or fumes be ventilated and filtered using HEPA filters.

Q4: Is this plate weldable?
A4: Yes, either TIG or MIG welding works. Post-weld heat treatment is necessary to recover mechanical characteristics in the heat-affected zone.

Q5: What is the lead time for custom cuts?
A5: Standard stock sizes ship in 3–5 days. Custom precision cut plates with specified temper specifications often have a 1–2 week lead time.

Q6: What certificates and documentation do you give with each order?
A6: All shipments are supplied with an EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificate, ISO 9001:2015 certification documents and comprehensive RoHS and REACH compliance records.
