Description
C17200 Beryllium Copper Rod Mold Base for Precision Injection Molding — Steel-Level Hardness with Superior Thermal Transfer
C17200 Beryllium Copper Rod Mold Base (Alloy 25) is a high performance precision machined component based on ASTM B196 C17200 alloy. It offers heat conductivity of 105-130 W/mK, about 3-4 times greater than P20 tool steel, and tensile strength of up to 1,400 MPa and hardness of up to HRC 45. These rods are produced by Dongguan Jiaye Dingsheng Precision Casting & Forging Co., Ltd. a copper alloy manufacturer since 1997 with 25+ years of experience, and are available in diameters from 5 mm to 150 mm, custom cut lengths and age-hardened temper conditions to suit your mould design.
What Is a C17200 Beryllium Copper Rod Mold Base?
Uneven cooling in plastic injection moulding may lead to component warpage, higher cycle durations and premature tool failure. High stress mould areas just can’t move heat quickly enough with standard tool steels such as H13.
This is where a C17200 Beryllium Copper Rod Mold Base may come in handy with copper-like heat transfer and steel-like structural strength. Alloy comprises 1.8-2.0% Beryllium, and balance Copper plus trace Cobalt/Nickel.
The result is a mould insert material that eliminates hotspots, cuts cycle times by 15-30% and increases tool life in 24/7 production situations – all without losing the dimensional stability your mould base expects.

Key Material Properties
Fast heat dissipation: It has a higher thermal conductivity than typical mould steel, eliminating mould hot spots and avoiding polymer material damage.
Stable hardness performance: Professional ageing treatment provides a stable internal precipitation structure, suitable for long-term high-volume mould manufacture without deformation.
steady mechanical structure: steady fatigue resistance and wear resistance under high-pressure injection manufacturing circumstances.
Safe physical features: Non-magnetic and anti-sparking, appropriate for precision electronic product moulding situations.
Typical Applications
High Cycle Plastic Injection Moulding
Thin-wall packing mould core pins and mould inserts are manufactured from C17200 rods. Extracting heat faster reduces cycle times by 15-30% over steel inserts, cutting your cost per item immediately.
Precision electronic cabinets
These rods provide for regulated heat dissipation in the fabrication of connectors and micro-components with tolerances as close as ±0.005 mm. This avoids heat deterioration of sensitive polymers on fragile geometries.
Pinch-off Zones for Blow Moulding
In automobile and container manufacture, C17200 rods are used at pinch-off points for strong impact and thermal shock resistance. They provide better heat transfer than stainless steel, which results in cleaner seals and longer tool life for continuous production applications.
Quality Control Protocol
All products pass multi-stage strict inspection before delivery, including OES component detection, hardness verification, ultrasonic internal flaw inspection, grain size analysis, conductivity testing and CMM dimensional calibration. Each batch is equipped with complete MTC test reports, supporting full batch traceability and complying with ISO 9001 and RoHS standards.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Why choose C17200 instead of H13 steel for mold inserts?
A1: C17200 has higher thermal conductivity to optimize molding cycles, while retaining the hardness required for mass production.
Q2: What is the function of aging treatment?
A2: Aging treatment forms a beryllium precipitation structure, improving the alloy's hardness, thermal conductivity and overall stability.
Q3: Is there any risk in machining the material?
A3: Solid rods are safe for daily handling. Ventilation and wet processing are required during machining to control dust.
Q4: Is surface treatment necessary for molding use?
A4: The alloy has natural corrosion resistance. Plating can be added for special working environments to enhance surface performance.
Q5: Do you support custom specifications?
A5: Yes, we can customize sizes and heat treatment status according to customer drawings and requirements.
